Does This Sound Familiar?

Your Timing & Rhythm Hold You Back

You rush your licks, struggle to find the groove, and locking in with a metronome feels harder than it should.

Your Right Hand Feels Mechanical & Shaky

Your picking hand tenses up, and never quite feels fluid or in control.

Your Solos Feel Like a Bunch of Disconnected Licks

You know a few scales and a handful of phrases — but your solos don't make musical sense.

Your Fretboard Knowledge Feels Limited

You're stuck in the same boxes and shapes — and you know it's holding your playing back.

Your Practice Feels Random & Inefficient

You sit down to play but end up noodling the same things over and over. You're not sure what to work on or whether it's actually making you better.

Playing With Others Makes You Nervous

Alone you sound fine — but in a band, a jam, or a rehearsal, something falls apart and you can't figure out why.

What's missing isn't effort. It's clarity.

That's why I created In-Flow Guitar Coaching.

If Only Guitar Was Like Playing Darts

A guitar with a dartboard body — the perfect illustration of why guitar is harder than darts

Learning guitar would be easy if it was like darts.

With darts, the goal is clear. One target. One action. One skill to master.

But guitar isn't like that.

Chords, scales, arpeggios, strumming patterns...

Alternate-picking, fingerpicking, hybrid-picking, sweep picking!

So you go to YouTube for answers — and every channel tells you to work on something different.

So you pivot.

And the same thing happens again.

And again.

It's not that you lack dedication.

It's that you can't see the path forward — and the internet only makes you feel even more lost.

That's why I created In-Flow Guitar Coaching. Not to swamp you with more information, but to show you a clear path forward to playing with confidence and flow in every musical situation.

In-Flow Guitar Coaching is a 12-Week 1-1 online coaching program designed around where you are right now — your skill level, your goals, and the things keeping you stuck.

The first step is a free Guitar Clarity Call where we'll:

Whether we end up working together or not, you'll leave the call with a clear plan.
And if we are a good fit, I'll build you a fully custom 12-week program and coach you through it 1-on-1 — week by week.

No pressure. No obligation. Just a proper conversation about your guitar playing.

Not Just Lessons.
A Real Program.

I Spent A Decade Spinning My Wheels.
One Teacher Changed Everything.

Lincoln McKenzie

Lincoln McKenzie

Professional Guitarist & Educator

Over 30 years ago, I asked my mum for a guitar — and it almost didn't happen because my dad told her it would be "under the bed in 2 weeks."

Ironically, the real problem would be getting me to put the thing down.

I started lessons from a great local guitar teacher who opened up a whole world of music for me.

But two years later my family moved interstate — and the new teacher mostly handed out TABs, so within a few years I quit lessons.

In the years that followed, I practised for hours and hours with no plan — noodling and spinning my wheels.

I had no idea how to practise effectively.

Fast forward 10 years and I'm back in my home city pursuing music, and somehow resuming lessons with my original guitar teacher.

The path was suddenly clear — he showed me exactly what to do to become the player I wanted to be, and my playing improved more in the next year than in the entire decade before.

A year later I was studying jazz at university - building a career as a musician and educator.

I had done it on my own for so long, practising hard but getting nowhere.

Once I had the right guide showing me the path, everything finally clicked.

That's why I created In-Flow Guitar Coaching — so it doesn't have to take you as long as it took me.

What Actually Improves

Here are some of the breakthroughs our students have made.

01 — Rhythm

Lock In Your Rhythm & Timing

Solid rhythm is what separates players who sound good from players who sound great. You'll develop the internal clock and control that makes everything else click into place.

02 — Performance

Play With Confidence Under Pressure

Whether it's a gig, a rehearsal, or a jam — your playing will hold up when it matters. No more freezing, second-guessing, or falling apart when others are listening.

03 — Expression

Improvise & Express Yourself Freely

Move beyond stock pentatonic licks and start playing things that actually sound like you. You'll learn to improvise musically, expressively, and confidently in any setting.

04 — Fretboard

Finally Understand The Fretboard

Stop feeling lost above the 5th fret. You'll develop a real understanding of the neck — where the notes are, how they connect, and how to use that knowledge when it counts.

05 — Polish

Make Your Playing Sound Effortless

Smoother chord changes, cleaner tone, and seamless transitions between strings. The kind of polish that makes people think you've been playing for years longer than you have.

What Happens When
You Apply

A straightforward process designed to give you total clarity.

1

Apply

Answer a few short questions about your playing, your goals, and where you're at musically. Takes about two minutes.

2

I'll Review Your Application

If it looks like I can genuinely help you, I'll invite you to book a free 1-1 call. If not, I'll be straight with you and point you toward something that's a better fit.

3

Leave With Clarity

Whether we work together or not, you'll finish the call knowing exactly what's been holding your playing back — and what to do about it.

Who This Is For
(And Who It's Not)

If you recognise yourself here, this program is for you. If not, that's completely fine too.

✦ This IS for you if…
You Want To Perform With Confidence Whether that's gigs, rehearsals, jam nights, or just playing in front of a few friends without feeling anxious.
You Want To Sound Musical, Not Just Correct You want your playing to feel expressive and natural — not like you're executing a series of instructions.
You Feel Stuck And Aren't Sure Why You're putting in the time but progress feels slow, patchy, or random. You just want someone to tell you what to actually work on.
You're Ready To Follow A Clear, Structured Plan You're done winging it and you're ready to follow a clear path — even if that means working on things you've been avoiding.
✕ This is NOT for you if…
You're A Beginner Who Has Just Started Playing Guitar If you're still learning your first chords and getting your fingers moving, this program isn't the right fit — yet.
You Prefer Unstructured, Loose Lessons This program is designed to focus on the things that will actually move your playing forward, rather than random topics that change every week.
You Can't Commit To Regular Practice Between Sessions The coaching only works if you're putting in consistent practice between sessions. If you're not in a position to practise regularly right now, this isn't the right time.
You Aren't Ready To Confront What's Holding You Back Real improvement requires honest self-assessment. If you're looking for a shortcut or a quick-fix formula, this isn't it.

What Students Say About
In-Flow Guitar Coaching

"

Learning guitar was something I always loved, but wasn't able to pursue without a teacher, until I got introduced to Lincoln. Learning with him was amazing — his manner of teaching was so sweet and engaging. He was also patient and supportive, yet able to motivate his students.

Lincoln was always open for ideas, he taught me things I was interested in, or even learnt things along with me. He was truly the best teacher I have ever had, and I wish he could have stayed in Melbourne and continued to teach me.

Just started getting lessons with Lincoln and already I have a much broader understanding of the guitar. Straight away we clicked onto what I was interested in learning and from there he has been able to give me every step required to become a more advanced player.

So far the methods he has taught me have given me the ability to unlock the entire neck of the guitar, which has made my playing and learning process a lot more fun. Lincoln is very personable and you get a real feel for his passion when he plays — he is a true master who has clearly devoted his life to music. I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking to take it to the next level, beginner or expert.

Lincoln is a fantastic teacher. He taught me from 2015 to 2020 in Victoria. I learnt so many things from him and am now a well accomplished guitarist completing VCE music performance this year.

His teaching style was perfect for me — very versatile and easy to follow. I strongly recommend him to anyone at any level of guitar playing.

Lincoln taught my son for a period of about eighteen months and I could not recommend him highly enough. Aside from being absolutely skilled and passionate about his instrument, he is an insightful teacher, keen to find the unique key to unlocking each student's love of the guitar. That takes patience and creativity.

With my son, tapping into the various music styles he was into at the time and using those to develop the fundamentals of technique worked a treat. Lincoln is generous and caring and has established a lasting relationship with my son.

I've been learning guitar with Lincoln for 5 years, and with his guidance I have gone from basic skills into developing deeper knowledge of music.

What I like about Lincoln is that he considers my style and taste, but also introduces me to new music. He is great at teaching technical skills and we also have fun improvising together.

Luke Campbell

I had lessons with Lincoln for just over a year. Lincoln took me from knowing basic chords to playing full length songs in that time. He managed to incorporate the theory of the music I was playing with the song I actually wanted to learn.

Every week I looked forward to my lessons — not only because I knew Lincoln would improve my knowledge and skill, but because he was an encouraging teacher who helped me through the many mistakes I made. He was always patient and you could tell he was invested in helping me improve.

As someone who came to guitar later in life, I feel extremely lucky to have met and learned from Lincoln McKenzie over approximately 3 years. Lincoln is a patient and generous teacher who has a real knack for picking a lesson pace that creates challenge, but always with full appreciation of the student's capability.

His deep musical knowledge, multi-instrument playing proficiency, and sense of fun make Lincoln a great choice for any budding guitarist.

Got Questions?
Let's Clear Them Up.

Why should I apply and get a call?

The purpose of the call is to understand where you're at with your playing, what's been holding you back, and whether there's a clear path forward. I do have a coaching program that helps guitarists become confident musical performers — and if it genuinely looks like a good fit for you, I'll explain what that could look like.

But there's no obligation to join anything. Whether we work together or not, you'll leave with a clear path forward. The call is free, so there's nothing to lose.

Who will I be speaking with?

You'll be talking with me, Lincoln McKenzie. I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and teaching for 18 of them — privately, online, and as a music educator running bands and ensembles in schools. I studied jazz at university and I've spent my career helping guitarists progress and performing blues, rock, jazz, and everything in between.

What does the call look like?

It runs for roughly an hour and has a simple format. We'll dig into where your playing is right now, what role guitar has in your daily life, and where you actually want to take it. Then we'll unpack what's getting in the way — the sticking points, the patterns, the stuff that's been quietly slowing you down.

By the end, I'll map out what I think needs to shift so you walk away with a real plan, not just vague advice. There's no audition, no pressure, and nothing to prepare. Just a straight-up conversation about your guitar playing.

Do I have to pay for this?

No. The application and the call are both completely free — no surprises, no card required. The purpose of the call is to figure out whether working together actually makes sense for your situation. If it does, I'll explain what that looks like. But nobody's going to spring a price on you out of nowhere.

What happens if it's not the right fit?

Then we part ways, simple as that. No weirdness, no follow-up pressure. You'll still come away knowing exactly what's been getting in the way of your progress and what deserves your attention going forward. If I think there's a better path for you than working with me, I'll point you in that direction.

There's zero risk in applying — the worst-case scenario is a useful conversation.
